The purpose of the Sacred Music Internship at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lebanon, PA is to provide an opportunity for college students to advance their skills in church music, specifically liturgical leadership through acquiring or developing organ and handbell skills and the opportunity to direct an adult chamber choir.
Working under the tutelage of and in coordination with the Music Minister and Associate Music Minister, the Intern will have the option to attend weekly lessons, and offer accompaniment for portions of one worship service per month.
In support of this endeavor, the Intern will have access to three organs, a harpsichord, and a grand piano for private rehearsal and study, and a monthly stipend of $500.
The internship offers flexible scheduling options to accommodate class schedules, outside employment, and personal obligations.
· 18 years of age or older
· Competency on the piano or other keyboard instrument
· Ability to read music and musical notation
· Pass criminal background check and PA child clearance
· Bound by conduct outlined in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church Personnel Policy Manual
· Completion of I-9, W-4 and enrollment in MinistryWorks payroll system
The internship will begin on September 1, 2026 for Fall Semester and carry into Spring Semester ending on April 18, 2027. The internship may be terminated by either party at any time, for any reason.
